Don't Let the Sun Pop Your Board: 2026 Maintenance Guide
In mid-January 2026, whether you are enjoying the Aussie summer or storing your board in the UK winter, maintenance is the only thing standing between a 10-year lifespan and a wasted paddle board cost. An inflatable paddleboard is a high-tech piece of gear—treat it like one.
The 2-PSI Summer Rule
Physics doesn't care about your weekend plans. When a board sits in the hot sun, the air inside expands. If you pumped your Rockerwave to 20 PSI with your 12v paddle board pump, the sun can push that past 25 PSI. Always bleed out 2 PSI if you are leaving your board on the beach for lunch.
Winter Storage: The "Loose Roll" Method
For our friends in the Northern Hemisphere: Never store your board bone-dry and folded tight in a freezing garage. This causes "seam fatigue." Instead, clean it with fresh water, dry it completely, and leave it slightly inflated (around 2 PSI) or loosely rolled in a climate-controlled room.
- Step 1: Rinse salt water off immediately to prevent valve corrosion.
- Step 2: Check your D-rings for rust.
- Step 3: Use 303 Aerospace Protectant for UV shielding.
A Rockerwave is built to last, but even military-grade fusion needs a little love. Keep it clean, keep it cool, and it will be ready for your next paddleboard fitness session.
